Balloon Catheters
The new Fogarty Balloon Catheters, developed for neuro-endoscopy, are designed and approved for use in the field of neurosurgery.
The main clinical indication is ETV (Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy), a procedure in which, by means of a Fogarty Balloon Catheter, the fenestration of the floor of the Third ventricle is dilated. Other indications:
- Aqueductoplasty
- Thecaloscopy
- Dilation of narrow anatomical spaces
Available in two different sizes:
- 3 Fr., for big operating channels (LOTTA™ neuroendoscope, GAAB neuroendoscope, DECQ neuroendoscope – big sheath)
- 2 Fr., for small operating channels (OI neuroendoscope, GENITORI neuroendoscope, DECQ neuroendoscope – small and medium sheaths)
Advantages:
- The balloon catheter is procurable in two different sizes, 3 Fr. and 2 Fr., and compatible to almost all neuroendoscopes available in the market.
- Manufactured from latex
- Homogeneous dilation and good elastic return to the original size guarantees an easy extraction at the end of the application.
- Low profile of the balloon catheter avoids any friction and ensures an easy sliding into the neuroendoscope.
- Transparent, for a better control of the operating field
- Short distance between the dilated balloon and the distal tip of the catheter itself, thus limiting the risk of injuries to Basilar Artery and the Perforating Branches
